OFSTED Training Courses by Weatheroak Inspections

Are you feeling pressurised by the thought of an impending OFSTED inspection? Do you feel that you need someone who can empathise and give up-to-date and informed judgements on how to ease this burden? Alwyne Jolly is uniquely qualified as a lead inspector for 15 years and headteacher until April 2010. Not only has he experienced the intense scrutiny and pressure of an OFSTED inspection visit four times (most recently September, 2009) but has the knowledge as a current lead inspector to help you manage the inspection so that it is a positive experience. He will lead the following OFSTED training courses in this academic year:

“How to prepare for the new Ofsted inspection framework” is offered as an on-site course to individual schools or clusters of schools, either as a full day course priced at £600 or a Twilight session priced at £300.

This full day course will help you to understand the new framework and plan effectively for your next inspection. Aimed at senior staff, including headteachers, assistant headteachers, subject leaders and phase leaders (in primary schools). It will cover the following areas:

  • What is expected in self evaluation and how to present the information in a minimum amount of time
  • Presenting attainment on entry data and outlining pupil progress
  • The greater focus on numeracy, reading and literacy
  • Judging achievement
  • Key remaining areas connected to safeguarding
  • Attendance and punctuality
  • The greater focus on pupils’ behaviour and anti-bullying strategies
  • The greater focus on the views of pupils and parents
  • The greater focus on lesson observation and the quality of teaching
  • The different focus on pupils’ spiritual, moral, social and cultural development
  • An explanation of the new performance management arrangements
  • The greater scrutiny of satisfactory schools which have been now classified as ’requiring improvement’

Courses will be led by Alwyne Jolly, an experienced inspector, who has full knowledge and experience of the New Framework. Recently retired, he combined headship and inspection for 15 years and taken part in over 150 inspections. More recently he has provided individual support to schools, as well as running courses and training days for clusters of schools.
